The mourning of Corazon Aquino

We express our condolences over the losses of revered democratic icon in the region, Corazon Aquino. Upon her death, her commitment in democracy will lies in every opportunity comes ahead, in spite of some of us may have a glimpse of Aquino's upheavals.

Her valiant faortitude to Phillipine democracy was historical. From a demure 'merely housewife' derided by dictator Marcos, Corazon Aquino had altered new course of her nation. A nation used to maligned with rampant corruption and abuses of Marcos for 20 years. Elective dictatorship supplanted with democratic leaders.

Her husband, an opposition leader, Benigno Aquino died in 1983 assassined at Manila Airport, as he returned from exile in Boston, United States of America. The assassined of her beloved man and Filipinos was an epoch of rakyat interest taking precedence over Marcos lusts. She told Filipinos "I am like you" "I am a victim of Marcos".

Therefore, growing Kuasa Rakyat was emerges marked the eclipse of Marcos dictatorship. He had earned precarious living as the President. An audible Filipinos chanted the mantra "Cory, Cory, Cory" on the street, somehow entrenched the determination of her campaigns. While no leader in history survive from the Kebangkitan Rakyat, Corazon Aquino rewritten the history as the next President as Marcos fled in 1986.

HEP VS SISWA = Who is Better Now?

Suara Siswa (28 July 2009) drawn my attention as I gradually stopped my 'palm oil' stuff. My enthusiasm and great brilliant evocation of Student Power was mounting. Despite a paucity of outcome from the last petition, we were embarked on the herald a new episode of student movement especially in UUM. A sign of our meekness should not be miscontrued by the decision makers.
Nevertheless, I exhorted my fellow comrades to perform in standard maneuver and attaining SPF objectives. It was not my intention to evokes the bus issues any longer. We were confounded by the decision of price hike. Discontent among students were numerous. We demanded deliberately justification from the management and Student Representatives. Eventually, we suffocated by long wide novel, perplexed explanations. The sanctity of student petition was derived from colossal voices of us, and propounded by management. As a result, our sacred intention were entangled in the UUM Security Unit interrogations. Both of them were interrogated for nearly 12 hours in different days. I perceived it as temptation.
While we struggled in the history, our female MPP Exco made some wild accusations about the petition incident without any cue. I believe the petition incidents was referred to us. What a bizarre joke, when this Lady Gaga sing,
  1. Such petition online was not appropriate approach to deal with students issues
  2. We offered no resolutions in the memorandum
  3. And this Lady Gaga also conceded with the moderator that 'HEP is such a red tape organization'

We says, these absolutely implausible remarks. We says, there were 500 students, perhaps more if the site was not blocked, resentment over new bus policies was apparent. More significant, there were many students outside the circles of Chancellory Building imposed their signatures in the hope of reversal policy. Democratic means, I was impressed. We also would like to remind Lady Gaga that we laid out four resolution or suggestions during the meeting with TNC HEPUUM. University must not bear it slightly. For her, we propose, she must be briefed of it before issues such in the future.

Lady Gaga as well, admitted that HEP is such a red tape organization when been asked by moderator. We may concludes from her, we foresee our petition will never obtain approval from HEP? Therefore, our rights to initiate this vocation might not reach on the table of the top level management? Or even it did, how accelerates this petition process in HEP incubator? Or maybe, when the student 'tempest' abating, then the petition will be neglected?

Pointing fingers is not the resolvement which we seek. We also seek no jostle with Student Council for the best position. We seek no type of Transformers: The Revenge Of the Fallen. We blame on stringent regulations in the campus. We blame farcical regulation which endorses the behaviour of the bureaucrats. The best way as Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah recent ebook 'Kalau saya mahasiswa' is empower students with the sense of responsible, activism and their idealism.

Facilitate the activism, not frustrate the activism. Lady Gaga imprudent remark toward us looks absurd! In sum, to all students, our reawakening of passionate democratic society merely the lesson of 'The Story of Prometheus' penned by 20th century prominent American author James Baldwin.

Accordingly, Prometheus was sent out by Jupiter to the Lower World. He lived with men and helped them, after he saw sadness, and poor condition in caves and holes of the earth. Men shivering ith the cold because there was no fire, dying of starvation, hunted by wild beasts and by one another. Prometheus said "If they only had fire, they could at least warm themselves and cook their food; and after a while they could learn to make tools and build themselves houses, without fire, they are worse off than the beasts"

Meanwhile, Jupiter indeed refuse a spark of fire given to mens. He said "If men had fire they might become strong and wise like ourselves, and after a while they would drive us out of our kingdom". Prometheus did not give up. He said "Mankind shall have fire in spite of the tyrant who sits on the mountain top"

After Prometheus taught thousand things, he saw how happy the world was becoming, he cried out " A new Golden Age shall come, brighter and better by far than the old!"

Dear Late Mr Teo Beng Hock

Within activists circle, personally the death of Beng Hock was meant more. More than a loss to his family. More than a loss to his comrades. He was fortitude against the unusual wicked force of reinforcement institutions. Many of us firmly have prevalent prejudices toward the credibility of justice institution. Sceptical, illogical and racist outlined by several questionable witnesses in media controlled government are separately adrifts from the alternative media sources.
The main lesson from the incident is the rule of law must prevails. Any democratic country, law enforcement should unfettered from the interference of wield of power (executive). Fetter the enforcement institutions renders the complicity in the 'suicide' of Beng Hock. His persistence, bringing up to better society should be remembered. As new activist, I pay my highly respect to the late Teo beng Hock and his family. Condolences
May God Bless Mr Teo and his Family.

LONG LIVE DAYAKS

Abdul Hadi Awang was reported from MalaysiaKini, 11 of July "semua pilihanraya kecil sebelum ini keputusannya memihak kepada kita. Cuma di Batang Ai sahaja kita kalah sebab mereka ini tidak reti undi, pakai cawat lagi. Saya bukan nak hina tetapi yang pakai molek, undi PAS"
This is another attempt to undermine the sake of Dayaks. Point of view, Hadi earned precarious living as Muslim politician. Pathetic statement of pious Muslim leader Hadi is absolutely repudiated by the Dayaks. Literally speaking, he demonstrates no mutual respect in multiracial, prosperity nation and seems failed to acknowledge the cultures and our civilization. Apart of it, as a long run politician, he should know such remarks is implausible. I believe that such remark will impeding their pave way to shaken off current government ans supplant them with new hope, if they succeed. Conversely, their remark only lead to chimera dream for the next State Election. Dayak political leaders reaction of Hadi's statement are tempest here, Sarawak. There is no state of requisite for me to illustrates each reaction from Dayak leaders. Too many reaction, too many action been taken including irrational burning the flags. The attitude apparently epitomized and win the mind of Dayaks interest, in spite of the fact that lacking of progressive, massive development efforts on basic necessities such as water supplies, electricity and wide communication, especially rural areas.
Perhaps, on the other hand, Dr John Brian Anthony, of Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) rectification on fatal remark of Hadi should be pondered. Five decades of Independence, Dayaks, in the eyes of Federal Government 1Malaysia concept remain less significant than any races. Rhetoric to another rhetoric, we are wilt to bend our ear of deaf government. Dayaks are Malaysian. We aRe citizens of universal suffrage. We deserve to beneficiary every yield of public policies in the country. Nevertheless, in many aspect of living, yet Dayaks still 'sustainable low run' in modern Malaysia history. Hadi's remarks has been at the center of political controversy. I appeasing of no one. I have many respected comrades from diversity of races which all of us devoting, upholding democracy and the rule of law. All Malaysians must come together, preaching unity transcend the age of Mankind. If PAS chief unable to refuting miscontrueness among Dayak leaders prudently, I may assure them Dayaks low trust and lustre toward Pakatan Rakyat will irrevocable. Noting here, official apologize from PAS leadership at least appease the Dayaks. Again, Dayaks are not politically gullible.

Withdraw Disciplinary Charge on UUM students Immediately

We/I from ______________, oppose the action of UUM authority for charging three students, for practising his rights as student and a Malaysia citizen, to set up an online petition to gather students’ voices on the UUM bus fare issue and giving his opinion on somemone at his blog.

2. We/I strongly feel that the disciplinary charge should be withdrawn because:
  • Choo Kok Wei and Medecci Lineil Repong have done nothing wrong. They were trying to help the students to voice out their unsatisfaction towards the policy and showed it to the authority.
  • Freedom of expression should be preserved in a democratic campus as stated in Article 19 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and Article 10 of Federal Constitution in Malaysia.
  • They have shown a role model by concerning in campus policy and tried to gather the opinions of students to help improve the university.
3. Students as one of the stakeholders of a university should be given opportunity to monitor every contract or affairs that are related to the campus and especially to the students. Thus, any changes in the service should involve students’ opinion and thoughts so that the policy will do good to the students. Students should be encouraged to show concern about the university policy and give their opinion freely. The charging of Choo Kok Wei, Medecci Lineil Repong, and Tengku Mohd Hasrul bin Tengku Malek is a retrogression of democracy in UUM.

4. We/I urge that UUM authority:
a) to withdraw disciplinary charge from the three student immediately.
b) to open the contract between UUM and UNIC to the public to show that there is no conflict of interest in this issue.
c) to preserve the freedom of expression of the students as stated in Article 19 of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and Article 10 of Federal Constitution in Malaysia, and uphold campus democracy..

Yours faithfully,

______________
